About

A small Gulf Coast business built around getting documents where they belong

L & J Process Servers is independently owned and operated, based in Gulfport and working across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Process serving, document courier work and mobile notary appointments, handled by the person you speak to.

The business

Independently owned, and deliberately small

L & J is a sole proprietorship. That is not a detail buried in the paperwork — it shapes how the whole thing works. There is no dispatcher between you and the person doing the job, no ticket queue, and no subcontractor to blame when something goes sideways.

It also sets a natural limit on volume. Work is taken on when it can be done properly rather than added to a list and dealt with eventually. If a week is full, you will be told that instead of being quietly deprioritised.

The three services fit together for a simple reason: they are all versions of the same job. Somebody needs a document to reach somebody else, in a way that can be accounted for afterwards, and it matters that it is done carefully.

Ownership

L & J Process Servers is a Black woman-owned sole proprietorship, owned and operated on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

It is stated here because clients sometimes ask and because it is true — not as a sales pitch. The reason to use L & J is that the work gets done carefully and you are told the truth about it. Everything else on this site is about that.

How it runs

What a job looks like from the inside

No two days are alike, but the shape of the work is consistent.

Jobs come in directly
By phone, by email or through the request form. Whichever route it takes, it reaches the same person, and that person answers.
Every job is confirmed before it starts
Coverage, what the work involves and what comes back to you are all agreed up front. Nobody should be surprised by anything after the fact.
The day is planned around the addresses
Attempts and appointments are scheduled to suit the locations and the people involved, not to make a route look efficient on paper.
You hear what actually happened
Updates are given as the work progresses, including the ones that are not what anybody wanted to hear.

Boundaries

What L & J is not

Being clear about the limits is part of doing the job properly. These are the three that come up most.

Not a law firm
L & J does not represent anyone, does not appear in court on your behalf and does not take instructions the way a firm would.
Not a source of legal advice
No opinion is offered on whether you need something served, what your deadline is, or what a document means. Those questions belong with an attorney or the court.
Not a national network
There is no call centre and no subcontracting chain. The person who takes the job is the person who does it, which is the whole point.

Based in Gulfport, working across South Mississippi

L & J serves Harrison, Hancock, Jackson, Stone, Pearl River, George, Forrest, Lamar, Perry, Marion and Jones counties, subject to availability.

Work with the person doing the work

Call and you get the owner. Send a request and it reaches the same place. That is the whole arrangement.
